In Tales of Link, a player's level is called Rank and leveling is called Ranking up. The player ranks up by gaining EXP from completing any quests and events and filling up their EXP bar. The player's maximum stamina, which is used up to complete events, is determined by their rank. When a players ranks ups their stamina bar is refilled, and their maximum stamina will be increased. The amount the player's maximum stamina increases with full details are at the tables at the bottom of this page. Stamina refreshes at a rate of 1 stamina every 5 minutes. It cannot go past the maximum when it is full.
The amount of EXP required to rank up increases logarithmically as the player's rank increases, so ranking up is very easy up to rank 100 and still fairly easy even when the player passes rank 200. The current rank cap is rank 999. When you reach rank 999, you will no longer be able to rank up and refill your stamina. The current maximum stamina is 570.
The Best Places to Gain EXP

As of the update on 1/25/2017, all exp maps and keys have been modified from their original stamina values. As of the release of Saleh's Ares on 3/26/2017, the exp gains on floor 31 were modified to match floor 10. The information below is current to Tales of Link Global as of 4/12/2017.
Event Stages
- Sparring Lessons with Malik: As of the update on 1/25/2017, Malik keys are the only key that gives any significant experience. At the moment, the keys are limited in Global (monthly contracts give out 10, with log in bonuses being the only other viable source).
- Ares Realm, when available, gives a great amount of EXP per stamina when a stage is beaten. Both floor 10 and floor 31 are repeatable. As of 3/26/2017, floor 10 is the most reliable way to gain rank after floor 31 had its exp gain adjusted to give as much as floor 10, making floor 10 a more efficient exp gain per stamina.
Making the Most of Stamina
Many times, events may take more stamina than a player's full stamina bar, or a repeatable event may happen (such as Soul Arena) where a player would wish to continually complete the stage.
Rather than waiting 5 minutes for 1 stamina or more, ranking up can be used to refill a player's stamina bar so that he/she may continue the event. This can easily be achieved by considering how much percentage EXP one of the above stages gives, and continually repeating that stage until EXP is nearly 100% (minus the amount needed for one, or for safety, two runs). The stamina bar can then be emptied out on the event, leaving just enough stamina to gain the EXP to rank up. Once the final run is completed, the stamina bar will be refilled, and the process can be repeated again!
Rank and Stamina Tables
At rank 1, the maximum stamina is 10. The player's maximum stamina then increases as follows to a maximum of 570.
- Between ranks 9 to 39: 2 stamina every 2 ranks
- Between ranks 40 to 199: 3 stamina every 4 ranks
- Between ranks 200 to 999: 1 stamina every 2 ranks
